NEW YORK, Nov 18: Former president Pervez Musharraf would travel to the United States as a guest of the World Affairs Council of Western Michigan at its annual dinner on Jan 14, council’s executive director Dixie Anderson announced on Monday.

It will be former president’s first trip to the US as a private citizen after he left office in August this year.

Ms Anderson said she was excited to host a speaker who was a key figure in one of the most critical regions in the world.

“We have been working on this for several months,” she said.

“Pakistan and that part of the world is one of the most critical areas in the world.”

Previous speakers at the council’s annual dinner have included former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak, former secretary of defence William Cohen and former president of Poland Lech Walesa.
