ISLAMABAD, May 10: The federal public service commission (FPSC) has asked the defence forces to nominate around 65 officers with “high average” service record for induction of six of them in the civil bureaucracy this year.

Under normal practice, 10 per cent of the annual vacancies in the foreign service of Pakistan, district management group and police service at the rate of not less than two in each group, provided they clear psychological test and viva voce, official sources said.

Of this direct induction, provincial quota of Punjab is set at three officers and one each from Sindh, NWFP and Azad Kashmir this year. One post is rotated among Azad Kashmir, Balochistan, Northern Areas and Fata, the sources explained.

Pakistan army would get four slots followed by one each by Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air force.

The FPSC has asked the defence ministry to provide a list of 25 officers from army, 20 from navy and 20 from air force. From army, 10 candidates would come from Punjab and five each from Sindh, NWFP and Azad Kashmir.

Five each would come from Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and AJK, representing both the navy and the air force. Under the procedure, the vacancy for Sindh is rotated to urban and rural.

Last year, Sindh post was given to Sindh urban and would now go to Sindh rural. The candidates for recruitment in BS-17 should not be more than 32 years of age on July 1, 2001, and educational qualification should be graduation like candidates of competitive examinations. The overall record in the armed forces should not be below “high average”.

The FPSC has asked the defence and establishment divisions to provide complete biodata/annual confidential reports dossiers, eight photographs of each candidate immediately so that their cases could be scrutinized and eligibility determined before calling them for their psychological tests and viva voce.
