QUETTA, Nov 16: A suspected militant was killed and three others were injured in an encounter with security forces in Jabri area of Awaran district on Sunday.

According to official sources, armed men attacked Frontier Corps personnel when they were going from Mashkey, a small town in Awaran district, to Khuzdar after conducting a probe into a recent firing on security forces.

The vehicle of Colonel Khalil, commandant of Kalat Scouts, was attacked but he escaped unhurt. Inspector-General of Frontier Corps Maj-Gen Saleem Nawaz told Dawn that FC personnel pursued the attackers and killed one of them.

The injured militants were taken into custody.

BLA spokesman Beebargh Baloch told newsmen that troops had launched search operations in Mashkey and Mand areas and arrested many Baloch youths.
