NAWABSHAH, Nov 6: The Nawabshah Taluka Municipal Administration is facing an acute shortage of staff due to the ban on recruitment for last 10 years.

Taluka Nazim Abdul Rauf Khan told this to reporters during the launching of “Saaf Suthra Mera Nawabshah” at Taluka Council Hall here on Thursday. He said that anti-encroachment cell could not be established due to staff shortage.

To a question he replied that no town planning officer had been posted at the TMA Nawabshah in the last seven years while 116 illegal housing colonies had been constructed. These colonies were constructed without any formal approval for which notices had been issued, he said.

It was the responsibility of the municipal authorities to provide services to people, including cleanliness and drainage he said adding that the TMA Nawabshah was not getting dues of water tax but still it had launched the cleanliness campaign with an estimated cost of Rs800,000.

He said that special equipments and machinery had been arranged from Hyderabad and Karachi for the purpose. The TMA was also planning to whitewash the entire city.

He further said that the TMA would impose fine and register an FIR if debris was found in any part of the town after the campaign. He said that anti-malaria fumigation would be done along with the elimination of stray dogs. He said that saplings would also be planted at different places in collaboration with the Forest Department.
