KARACHI, Oct 21: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) on Tuesday in a move to check water theft cut off illegal water connections of half a dozen hydrants, illegally operating in different parts of the city.

A special team of the KWSB, headed by in-charge of tankers cell Misbahuddin Farid, cut off illegal water connections of Rahman Hydrants near Hub reservoir, Ismail Hydrants near Crush Plant, Sher Zaman Hydrant at Sirjani roundabout, Shafiq Afghan Hydrant at UC office Manghopir, Bhatti Hydrant at Garam Chashma and Torkhan Hydrants at Football ground Manghupir.

The KWSB also lodged FIRs against the operators/ owners of the hydrants in their respective police stations for stealing water from KWSB waterlines. The hydrants were stealing water from the KWSB through two or more illegal connections of three inches diameter or more. The action was taken on a directive of City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal.—PPI
