HYDERABAD, Oct 12: Test for admission to MBBS and BDS courses was simultaneously conducted at the LUMHS selection centre Jamshoro, Chandka Medical College, Larkana, and Ghulam Mohammad Mehar Medical College, Sukkur, by the Institute of Business Management Karachi on Sunday.

At the LUMHS centre, 4,451 candidates appeared in the test for 451 seats and 1,242 candidates appeared for 100 seats at the Sukkur college.

Separate counters for girls and boys students were established who had to pass through the scanner gates for security reasons. Sitting arrangements were also made for the parents.

Sindh health secretary Mohammad Hussain Syed along with Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor Professor Noshad Ahmed Shaikh visited the Jamshoro centre and appreciated the arrangements made by the university administration for holding the test in a peaceful and transparent manner.

Talking to media, Mr Shaikh said that it was next to impossible for anyone to tamper with the results as three copies of answer sheets will be prepared one of which will be given to the student, one will be kept by the IOBM and one copy will be available with the centre.

He said the answer key will be displayed at the LUMHS website www.lumhs.edu.pm and IOBM website www.iobm.edu.pk in the evening. He said result of the test will be announced on October 19 and displayed on the website.

Our Larkana correspondent adds: As much as 2,200 male and female candidates hailing from six districts of Sindh appeared in the test for admissions to MBBS in the Chandka Medical College here on Sunday amid tight security.

The Institute of Business Management conducted the test with the help of invigilators from Cadet College Larkana.

The candidates took examination for 224 open merit seats whereas 26 more admissions will be offered on the basis of self-finance and quota for Fata residents and foreigners, sources said.

The special secretary of health inspected the on-going test. Talking to journalists, he said he was satisfied with the arrangements. He said that hopefully Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University would conduct the next admission tests.

Answering a question about recognition of the Ghulam Mohammad Medical College, he said that the Sindh health department was trying its best to overcome shortage of faculty at the college.
