KARACHI, May 9: Twenty vehicles — 11 cars and nine motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Thursday, the police said.

Four cars were hijacked. Seven others were stolen.

Five motorcycles were hijacked. Four others were stolen.

The police also claimed on Thursday to have recovered three cars and eight motorcycles in the city.

SUICIDE: An elderly man committed suicide in his home in Shadman Town on Thursday.

The police said that Jameel Shah, aged 70, jumped from the rooftop of his house in Shadman Town’s sector 4-B in the police limits of Sir Syed Town. He died on the spot. The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

The police said that the old man killed himself as he had long been mistreated by his children. After post-mortem, the body was handed over to the dead man’s relations.

KILLED: Unidentified persons stabbed a young man to death in Saeedabad on Thursday.

The police said that Bacha Khan, aged 20, a vegetable vendor, was sitting at his pushcart in sector 4-G when unidentified persons stabbed him and escaped.

He was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The police described personal enmity as a possible motive for the killing.

ELECTROCUTED: A young man was electrocuted in SITE on Thursday.

The police said that Mohammed Jahangir, aged 20, was working in a factory when he was electrocuted. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The body was later handed over to the dead man’s relations, after post- mortem.
