BAHAWALPUR, Oct 7: A convention of the bars belonging to southern Punjab will be organised by the District Bar Association, Bahawalpur, on Oct 10 at the district bar room.

DBA president Yahya Khan told Dawn on Tuesday that the delegates and office-bearers of all the bars would attend the convention, being held in connection with the lawyers’ movement for the restoration of independent judiciary. He said SCBA president Aitzaz Ahsan and other leaders like Ali Ahmed Kurd and Munir A Malik were also expected to address the convention.

On the other hand, the High Court Bar Association, Bahawalpur bench, has also invited Chief Justice Abdul Hamid Dogar to pay a visit to the LHCBA here.

District bar members are however opposed to the invitation.
