LAHORE, Oct 6: President, Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has approved 12 match commissioners for phase II of the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL), comprising 102 matches, slated to run from Oct 8 to Dec 6 2008.

Chaudhry Mohammad Asghar, chief coach at the Model Town Football Academy (MTFA) and a former international will act as match commissioner during the home matches of Pak Elektron Limited (PEL).

“The PFF have also approved PEL’s request for change-of-venue of two matches. PEL’s authorities termed THE MTFA Ground lucky for their campaign in reaching A-Division Soccer last year and according to the revised schedule, they will play their home matches against Afghan FC (Nov 2) and KESC (Nov 5) at the MTFA Ground instead of the Raiders FC Ground at Faisal Town,” said Asghar who coached Pakistani teams during the 30th Asian Youth Under-19 Championship 1996 at New Delhi and the 8th Asian Under-16 Championship 1998 at Hyderabad Deccan.

The other Lahore centre match commissioner will be Arif Siddiqui (FIFA Referee 1993-96), who will look after Wapda’s home matches. Arif was also manager of the Pakistan U-13 team in 2007 and FIFA Futsal Referee 2000-01.

Eighty out of 182 matches PPFL matches were completed from July 22 to Sept 1 and the remaining 102 will be played in between Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha (27 in Rawalpindi, 26 in Islamabad, 22 in Karachi, 17 in Lahore, eight in Faisalabad and two in Chaman.

Match commissioners:

Karachi: Abdul Shakoor Baloch (Peoples Sports Complex), Qamar Yar Khan (Korangi Baloch Stadium), Ahmed Ali (Pak Steel Township Ground), Mastan Khan (CDGK Stadium).

Lahore: Chaudhry Mohammad Asghar (PEL’s home matches at MTFA Ground and Railway Stadium), Arif Siddiqui (Railway Stadium).

Faisalabad: Mian Abdul Bari (PMC Ground).

Chaman: Ghulam Mohammad Samad (High School Ground, Taj Road).

Rawalpindi: Nasir Kiyani (KRL Stadium), Qazi Mohammad Asif (Army Sports Complex).

Islamabad: Shahid Ahmed Khan (Naval Complex), Irfan Khan Niazi
