Body formed to probe fake encounter

KHAIRPUR, Sept 29: Taking notice of the murder of Hamadullah alias Raja Jatoi who was killed in police firing two days ago, DIG Sukkur Bashir Ahmed Memon has constituted an inquiry committee.

Police sources said that the DIG Sukkur had assigned SSP Investigation Sukkur to head the inquiry committee. The SSP Investigation is expected to reach Dhando Jatoi village on Tuesday.

The SHO of the Tando Masti Khan police station has been transferred and directed to report to police line Khairpur. Inayat Soomro has been appointed as the new station-house officer.

Police had claimed that Raja Jatoi was a criminal and was killed in an encounter.

EID GIFTS: The MNA of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Nafisa Shah, said that the policies of the previous government had left the economy in a bad shape and it would take some time for improvements.

She was speaking at a ceremony organised by the district president of the People’s Cultural wing, Faqir Ubedullah Memon, to distribute gifts among the needy people.

She said that the PPP government knew very well that people had pinned hopes on the present setup. She said that the government would make all-out efforts for the eradication of poverty.

She said that committees had been formed on UCs level, which would prepare lists of the poor and widows and special packages would be provided to them at their doorsteps.

KILLED: A young man was killed in an armed clash between two groups of the Chandio community in Goth Pathan Wah in the Humayoon police limits near Shikarpur on Monday.

Following a brawl over a petty issue, two groups of the Chandio community had an exchange of fire, which resulted in the death of Ali Nawaz, son of Jamaluddin Chandio.

The body of the deceased was shifted to the Civil Hospital Shikarpur for legal formalities. Later, it was handed over to the relatives of the victim.

Neither any case was registered nor any arrests were made till the filling of this report.
