Police said that the anti-car lifting unit of police during snap-checking stopped two cars (AKK-335) and (CR-4618) at the Toll Plaza on the Super Highway.

It was found that both the cars were stolen. Subsequently, the police arrested the five suspects, Shaukat Sher, Habibullah Sher, Rauf Dahar, Mohammad Ismail Buffar and Fahim Soomro.

Initial interrogation led to the recovery of a Corolla car (U-1444) and a Marrgalla car (AAK-103) from their possession. The suspects were being interrogated and further recoveries were expected from them, the police said.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Violent Crime Cell has claimed to have apprehended a close aide of Abdul Ghaffar Zakri, a notorious gangster of Lyari, in the Brigade police jurisdiction on Tuesday.

A police party, headed by SHO Anti-Violent Crime Cell Inspector Irfan Ahmed, acting on a tip-off cordoned off the Lines Area near the parking plaza and stopped a car.

During checking, the police recovered two TT pistols, three hand-grenades and bullets from the car and arrested Noor Mohammad alias Noora Muhajir and his accomplice, Irfan.
