ATTOCK, Sept 20: The district government of Attock has approved Rs40.75 million for various development plans in the health sector under the Annual Development Plan.

The amount will be spent on procurement of medicines, medical equipments, machinery and vaccines for various health institutions of the district including district and tehsil headquarters (DHQ) hospitals besides training of health officials, it has been learnt.

According to the plan submitted by the health department to the district council that gave approval to it at its session on Sept 15, Rs2 million will be spent on purchase of new surgical and others medical equipments for health centres besides repair of old equipments.

Similarly Rs6 million will be spent on purchase of vaccines, immunisation kits and computers. Rs4 million will be spent on rehabilitation/ improvement of labour rooms at all 57 basic health units (BHUs) and Rs2 million for provision of ambulance service along with staff at 15 special health centres.

Similarly, Rs2 million will be spent on the training of staff to provide better mother-child health care and Rs1 million for provision of spectacles and eye checkup of students besides purchase of blood Pressure apparatus and showcase at the BHUs of the district. Likewise, Rs6.5 million for purchase of necessary medical equipments for THQ hospital Jand and Rs1.25 million will be utilised on the procurement of ultrasound machines for five rural health centres (RHUs). While Rs3.5 million will be spent on purchase of power generators for THQ hospitals of Jand, Hassanabdal and DHQ hospital Attock.

Furthermore, Rs10 million be spent on the provision of life saving drugs and other basic health facilities at the rural and far-flung areas of the district and Rs10 million for capacity-building of health staff and to meet transportation and other supervisory-cum-vigilance expenditures.
