MULTAN, Sept 14: The city district government is facing a budget deficit of Rs2.5 billion, said city district nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar on Sunday.

Presiding over a meeting of the district finance committee, he said the deficit was caused due to an increase in the salaries of government employees.

He said the issue was serious and would be taken up with the provincial government in writing soon. The nazim said as a result of the funds shortage work on several development projects had come to a standstill.—APP
