KARACHI, May 7: A huge housing complex of Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s Block 13-D/3 (Savana City), having more than 600 apartments, have been deprived of water for the last two months.

“For two months the residents have been paying huge amount to the building’s union for arranging water through private tankers as there is no water in the building’s pipeline,” a perturbed woman of the Savana City told Dawn.

ORANGI: A population of over 100,000 residing in different localities of Orangi’s Sector 11 1/2 has also been without water for a fortnight.

A councillor of the locality, Aftab Ahmed, complained that almost the entire Sector 11 1/2 of Orangi Township, comprising Warsia Colony, Benazir Colony, Aziz Nagar, Millat Colony, Ghausia Colony, Baloch Colony, Pakistan Bazar and Nishan-i-Haider Chowk, had not been supplied water during their last three turns of getting the supply.

He complained that the KWSB on the one hand had failed to ensure supply to their localities and, on the other, its officials were issuing water charges bills with a threat that they would be facing serious consequences if they failed to pay the bills.

SHANTI NAGAR: The water supply to the nine localities of Union Council No:7, Shanti Nagar, Gulshan Town, has remained suspended for the last one week as some miscreants stole the ten-feet long pipe from the main supply line near the COD filter plant, adds PPI.

A population of over 35,000 is compelled get water through tankers. The miscreants removed the pipe on May 1. The FIR of the incident was lodged with the Aziz Bhatti police station, but no action has been taken so far.

The Shanti Nagar Welfare Association has stated that it believes the incident is the work of some known gangsters of the area.
