THATTA, Aug 29: Three dacoits, including their ring leader, were killed in a brief encounter with police on Friday near Bachal Shah Ji Sim on Sujawal-Badin Road.

A joint team of Thatta and Badin police killed the head of dacoit’s gang Abdul Rehman alias Adloo Soomro, and two others Rasooli alias Major Khoso and Nawazoo Khoso.

Acting DPO, Thatta told journalists that police also recovered kidnapped victims Allah Jurio, Habib, Aziz and Allah Dino, along with seizing three Kalashnikovs, one rifle and four magazines from their possession.

He said dacoits, after storming Shahzad agricultural farm kidnapped four workers, while the DPO on receiving information on his cell phone immediately sent police contingent of the two districts.

An encounter ensued between them killing three dacoits, while their two accomplices escaped. None of the policemen received injury.

According to the DPO, Adloo Soomro was carrying Rs2.5 million as head money and was active in Khadi and other forests on the right bank of the River Indus for last five years making lives of area people miserable. Around 30 cases of kidnapping for ransom and 40 of robberies and dacoities were registered at different police stations of Thatta, Tando Mohammad Khan and Badin districts against Adloo Soomro and his gang.
