KARACHI, Aug 20: A four-year-old boy, who had gone with his father to buy books for his first day at a nursery, was crushed to death in Shah Faisal Colony, witnesses said.

They said Mohammed Mohiullah, a samosa-pakora vendor, was buying books from a shop for his son, who was sitting on his father’s bicycle, when he was crushed to death under the wheels of a minibus (JE-5083) of route Y-2 near the main bazaar in Shah Faisal Colony No.1.

The witnesses said the victim’s father fainted when he saw the smashed skull of his minor son, Haris, under the left rear wheels of the killer vehicle.

They said the victim’s father had parked his bike beside the pavement and the boy fell off it when the Saddar-bound minibus hit it. The witnesses said the boy was run over in the twinkling of an eye and died instantly.

Area people caught the driver, Tanveer, son of Anver Zeb, and gave him a little thrashing before they handed him over to the police. ASI Achar Khan told Dawn that a case against the driver was registered on the complaint of the victim’s father.
