KOHAT, Aug 16: Members of the National Movement for Unity (NMU) on Saturday accused police of failing to solve 21 cases related to sectarianism and expressed the fear that if strict action was not taken the peaceful environment of the Kohat city would be disturbed.

Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, divisional president of NMU Syed Shah Abul Hassan said recent attacks on shops and killing of people belonging to a particular sect was a dangerous development and the government should take concrete measures to stop such incidents from spreading in the Kohat city.

He said the NMU had no connection with the Haideri Taliban, who had allegedly been kidnapping people in Kohat and claiming to be an offshoot of a sectarian group.

He called upon people to make efforts for ensuring peace in the area and keep a watch on anti-state elements, who wanted to achieve their nefarious designs by fanning sectarianism.

Maulana Hameed Agha and Iftikhar Ali, a brother of Dr Liaquat Ali killed recently in his clinic, were also present.
