Bandit held after ‘encounter’

SUKKUR, Aug 15: Sukkur police arrested a notorious bandit Ali Raza Jagirani following an alleged encounter in the jurisdiction of Dubbar police station between the night of Thursday and Friday and also recovered an official rifle 303 from his possession.

Two unidentified accomplices of the bandit managed to escape. According to police sources, on an information that three armed men have taken position at Dubbar link road near the national highway of Rohri with the intention to commit crime, a police party led by SHO Dubbar Noor Mohammad Abro went there to check them.

However, sensing that they were cordoned by the police, the bandits started firing on the police, which was returned and continued for some time.

The police succeeded in arresting Ali Raza S/O Aitbar Jagirani, who is the resident of adjoining village Aitbar Jagirani.

Police recovered from him an official rifle 303, while his two companions reportedly fled the scene. Police claimed that Ali Raza was declared a proclaimed offender in FIR 18/2001 under sections 382, 147, 148, 149, 337 PPC of police station Dubbar, while he was absconding in two different FIRs 81/2000 and 39/2001 respectively under sections 324, 147, 457, 148, 149 PPC of Dubbar police station. Further investigation was under way.

TWO HELD: Kandhkot police arrested two wanted men and recovered from their possession arms and ammunition after an encounter near Malir village, in the jurisdiction of “A” section police, on Friday.

According to DSP Abdul Haq Qureshi, heavy police contingent raided the area near Malir village on a tip off. Dacoits opened fire on police which was retaliated. He said police managed to arrest two most wanted dacoits after an exchange of fire for half-an-hour. The arrested were Shoukat Naseerani and Ehsan Sabzoi and recovered from their possession two TT pistols and bullets.

The DSP told local newsmen that both were wanted by Sindh and Balochistan police in many cases including, murder, kidnapping, dacoities, highway robberies and others. Further investigation was under way.
