MINGORA, Aug 10: A man was killed and several others were injured while dozens of houses and three bridges were destroyed as clashes between security forces and local Taliban continued in Swat valley on the 13th consecutive day on Sunday.

Security forces, backed by gunship helicopters, pounded various hideouts of the militants with heavy artillery as fresh reinforcement reached Swat via Malakand region. An official of the forest deportment, identified as Sultanat Khan, was shot dead by unknown militants in Asharband area of tehsil Chargagh late on Sunday.

Residents said that a shell damaged many houses but no casualty was reported. They said the principal of Sarsenai School and his daughter sustained injuries in the shelling.
