DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 1: A woman and her three children were buried alive as roof of their house caved in due to heavy rain in South Waziristan region on Friday.

The roof of the house of Ajab Khan collapsed due to continued heavy downpour in Srarogha area of Ladha tehsil killing his wife and three children. Their neighbours retrieved the bodies.

The heavy rains and floods also damaged standing crops in Sardar Algad, Saam, Shinkai, Ladha, Makin, and Kotkai areas of South Waziristan. The link roads also remained closed due to floodwaters in different areas.

Meanwhile, heavy rains over the last couple of days also wrecked havoc in Dera Ismail Khan and its adjoining areas. Though the rains brought some respite to the residents from the sizzling heat but also added to the miseries of the dwellers of low-lying areas.

The floodwaters inundated streets and roads in the D.I. Khan city causing hardship for the motorists and pedestrians.
