RAWALPINDI, July 31: President Pervez Musharraf said on Thursday that peace and development in the backward areas of Fata should be in line with the wishes of tribal people.

Talking to a delegation of MNAs from Fata, the president said that peace was necessary for development in the area. He underscored the need for strengthening the local political and administrative structure.

Members of the delegation said that during his interaction with world leaders, think-tanks and media, President Musharraf had successfully allayed misperceptions about Fata created by a section of the western media.

They called for creation of economic opportunities in Fata by improving the network of roads and bridges.—APP
