MADRID, July 29: A small bomb exploded on Spain’s Costa del Sol early on Tuesday, causing no injuries or damage, and the government blamed Basque ETA separatists for what it said was their fifth such attack on holiday resorts in 10 days.

The bomb exploded just after midnight below a beachside promenade in Torremolinos, a popular spot for foreign visitors to Spain which is the world’s second biggest tourist destination.

Police found a bag containing a handgun and bomb-making materials. Hundreds of people were strolling on the promenade at the time and one person was treated for shock, Spain’s El Mundo newspaper said. “It was a small bomb, less than a kilogram ... and it was an ETA bomb,” Spanish interior minister said.—Reuters
