NAWABSHAH, July 28: The Nawabshah Medical College for Girls clinched the top three positions among all the medical colleges under Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in the annual examinations for the third year of MBBS.

Shumaila, daughter of Abdul Sattar Shaikh, Ranjeeta, daughter of Lal Chand and Javeria Qureshi, daughter of Arshad Ahmed secured the first, second and third, respectively.

The district government, meanwhile, announced establishment of a public school and named it Asifa Bhutto-Zardari Public School, said a press release issued by the district government’s media coordinator Kashif Noorani.

He said that a meeting presided over by MNA Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho on the establishment of a public school in place of Bahria Foundation School at Circuit House finalised the name for the school as Asifa Bhutto-Zardari Public School.

Dr Azra told the meeting that the school would start functioning from Aug 1 and would provide free of cost education and transportation facilities to girl students belonging to rural areas of the district.

The meeting also finalised the board of governors with Dr Azra as chairperson, EDO Education Razi Khan Jamali secretary, Acting District Nazim Abdul Haq Jamali, Coordinator to MNA Faryal Talpur Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, Nazim UC-1 Islam Khan Zardari and District Coordination Officer Khurshid Naeem Malik as members and educationist Ameer Bux Bhatti as principal of the school.—Correspondent
