13 Daska villages inundated

SIALKOT, July 21: Flood in Nullah Aik inundated 13 villages of Daska tehsil on Monday, damaging standing crops and forcing dwellers to shift to safer places.

The flood and rainwater spilled out from the nullah near Bhopalwala following ongoing spell of heavy rains in the region and catchment areas of the stream, inundating Gadaiyala East, Gadiyala West, Warsaalkey, Baddokey, Raliokey, Puraankeyki, Rehan Cheema and some other villages. Meanwhile, as many villages of neighbouring Pasrur tehsil remained inundated for the second consecutive day following spate in Nullah Deg. The officials have launched relief and rescue activities in the flood-hit areas.

The Sialkot DCO said that overall flood situation was under control and no loss of life was reported from the entire district.

The district received heavy rainfall on Monday followed by a windstorm, affecting electricity and communication systems.
