KARACHI, July 19: The Defence police on Saturday claimed to have busted a three-member gang involved in bike-lifting and recovered six motorcycles.

The gang has stolen more than 100 bikes in Karachi and disposed them of in Balochistan, according to the police.

One of the arrested gangsters is a police constable in the Muhafiz Force and was posted at Hassan Square.

A police party conducted a raid near a place on the main Korangi road in Defence area and arrested Imtiaz Mohammad Mithal (ringleader), constable Naeem Mursalin and Shahid Zaiwar Shah. Acting upon their statements, six motorcycles bearing fake number plates were recovered from Bilal Colony. The vehicles were stolen from New Karachi, North Nazimabad, Brigade and Defence areas.

The gang had rented a house in Bilal Colony to hide the stolen vehicles before handing over them to another gang operating in Balochistan for disposal.—PPI
