HYDERABAD, July 11: The two women vocational institutes and other social welfare organisations for which federal and provincial governments have allocated Rs2.2 million under Gender Reform Action Plan (Grap) should be upgraded, said District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil.

In a meeting of officials of Grap project here on Thursday, he said the above mentioned projects were providing technical education to women and need to be upgraded to provide more facilities to artisan centres.

Kanwar Naveed Jamil said the district government had earmarked Rs2.10 billion in its budget for the promotion of education sector.

Pinning hopes on government schools to produce better results, he said, the district government will have to bear additional financial burden due to increase in salaries.

DCO Ali Ahmed Lund, EDO CDD Shafat Unnar, EDO Finance and Planning, Javed Junejo, focal person for educational affairs, Q.M. Hakim and other officers attended the meeting.

AMUSEMENT PARK: The District Nazim Hyderabad, Kanwar Naveed Jamil on Thursday announced construction of an amusement park after the merger of Al-Mustafa Park and Al-Mustafa Ground to provide better recreational facilities to the people of Hyderabad and adjoining areas.

He made this announcement while presiding over a meeting of the HDA officials and members of the relevant committee.

A large number of district government officials and elected representatives of the people attended the meeting.

The park, he said, will be constructed on the pattern of best parks of Karachi, in a year.

He also announced appointment of the Director Housing HDA, Masood Ahmed Jumani as Technical Adviser of the park and urged the members of Parks and Playground Committee to visit Karachi for gaining information.

He said facilities, including car parking will be provided at the recreational park, while its income will be spent on further improvement.
