HYDERABAD, July 4: Sindh Minister for Livestock Abdul Haq Bhurt has said that 400 veterinary hospitals are being run without proper buildings in the province and he has approached the provincial cabinet for funds to accommodate the staff of the hospitals.He said 2,000 veterinary doctors will be recruited to meet the shortage of doctors in the government hospitals of Sindh.

He was speaking at a training workshop of veterinary doctors organised by the livestock management at a local hotel on Thursday.

The recruitment would eliminate unemployment and would encourage livestock related business, he said.

He said that his department had prepared a programme for skill development of youth to enable them to earn their livelihood.

The minister admitted that cattle breeders of Sindh had limited access to veterinary doctors. He directed the veterinary management to be proactive and serve breeders with missionary spirit.

He said that Pakistan and especially Sindh was rich in animal resources and we could be self-sufficient in the production of milk, meat and other livestock related products if veterinary management works honestly.

The minister also launched a book on veterinary related problems and solutions compiled by livestock management.

Earlier, secretary livestock Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui stressed the need for creating awareness among farmers.

Director Animal Husbandry Dr Ghulam Sarwar Shaikh in his address highlighted aims and objects of the workshop.

Dr Manzoor Hussain, Dr Amir Bin Zahoor and Dr Javed Arshad delivered lectures on veterinary diseases and treatments.
