HYDERABAD, July 2: In-charge sessions judge Hyderabad here on Wednesday granted pre-arrest bail to District Nazim of Tando Allahyar Dr Rahila Gul Magsi, her husband and taluka nazim Chambar Fayyaz Sheikh, her brother and former Sindh revenue minister Dr Irfan Gul Magsi and 14 others, including some UC nazims, in an attempted murder case in a sum of Rs25,000 each.

The accused were represented by Azizuddin Khawaja advocate. The case is lodged under sections 324, 506(2), 114, 147, 148, 149 PPC vide crime no 141/08 on the complaint of Khair Mohammad Mari. Co-accused are UC nazims, Ali Nawaz Lashari, Qasim Lund, Lakhi Rind, Dr Jalil Jarwar and others.

Defence counsel said that no such incident had, in fact, taken place and even if its believed that such incident took place then no one was injured and not a scratch had been caused to the vehicles. He said that the FIR is in fact part of series of vindictive actions that are being taken against his clients. He further said that on the one hand accused said that they had been attacked while on the other they left for district council’s budget session.

He said that his clients had to seek protective bail from Sindh High Court principal seat because they were unable to reach sessions court as it was surrounded by police.

New SAB secretary: The newly appointed secretary of the Sindhi Adabi Board, Professor Zawar Naqvi, on Wednesday took over the charge of his post and held a meeting with different sectional heads.

He took briefing on the board’s books and journals, future programmes and other related issues.
