LAHORE, June 30: Forty mail and express trains will be running according to revised timetable from Tuesday.
Route of an express train will be extended while two trains, whose operation has been suspended for long, will be excluded from the new timetable, says an announcement of the Pakistan Railways on Monday.
It has been a tradition that summer timings come into effect from April 15 and remain in force till Oct 14 and winter from Oct 15 to April 14 every year since the 20th century when the railways was established in this part of the subcontinent.
“Switching over of the government to daylight saving scheme by advancing clocks by an hour has necessitated revision of the timetable,” says a senior officer at the railways headquarters in Lahore.
According to the new timetable, Khyber Mail (1-Up) will now leave Karachi Cantt at 9:45pm to reach Peshawar Cantt at 8am the next day. Similarly, Khyber Mail (2-Dn) will leave Peshawar Cantt at 10pm to reach Karachi Cantt at 8:15am the next day.
Bolan Mail (3-Up) will leave Karachi City at 3pm to reach Quetta at 10:55am the next day; Bolan Mail (4-Dn) to leave Quetta at 2:30pm to reach Karachi City at 10:45am the next day.
Buraq Express (5-Up) will leave Karachi Cantt at 9pm to reach Rawalpindi at 9:30pm the next day; Buraq Express (6-Dn) will leave Rawalpindi at 2pm to reach Karachi Cantt at 2:35pm the next day.Tezgam (7-Up) will leave Karachi Cantt at 5:15pm to reach Rawalpindi at 9:15pm the next day; Tezgam (8-Dn) will leave Rawalpindi at 8:15am to reach Karachi Cantt at 12:15pm the next day.
Allama Iqbal Express (9-Up) will leave Karachi Cantt at 3:15pm to reach Sialkot at 6:20pm the next day; Allama Iqbal Express (10-Dn) will leave Sialkot at 7:30am to reach Karachi Cantt at 9:15am the next day.
Hazara Express (11-Up) will leave Karachi City at 5:45am to reach Havelian at 1:55pm the next day; Hazara Express (12-Dn) will leave Havelian at 3:20pm to reach Karachi City at 12:05am the next day.
Awam Express (13-Up) will leave Karachi Cantt at 7:45am to reach Peshawar Cantt at 7:15pm the next day; Awam Express (14-Dn) will leave Peshawar Cantt at 9:30am to reach Karachi Cantt at 8:05pm the next day.
Karachi Express (15-Up) will leave Karachi Cantt at 6pm to reach Lahore at 1:15pm the next day; Karachi Express (16-Dn) will leave Lahore at 6pm to reach Karachi Cantt at 1:10pm the next day.
Millat Express (17-Up) will leave Karachi Cantt at 4:30pm to reach Faisalabad at 10am the next day; Millat Express (18-Dn) will leave Faisalabad at 4:30pm to reach Karachi Cantt at 9:45am the next day.
Khushhal Khan Khattak Express (19-Up) will leave Karachi City at 7:10pm to reach Peshawar Cantt at 9:10am the next day; Khushhal Khan Khattak Express (20-Dn) will leave Peshawar Cantt at 4:15pm to reach Karachi City at 5:20am the next day.
Chiltan Express (21-Up) will leave Quetta at 9am to reach Faisalabad at 10:20am the next day; Chiltan Express (22-Dn) will leave Faisalabad at 5pm to reach Quetta at 4:45pm the next day.
Quetta Express (23-Up) will leave Quetta at 11am to reach Peshawar Cantt at 9:45pm the next day; Quetta Express (24-Dn) will leave Peshawar Cantt at 7:30am to reach Quetta at 5:30pm the next day.
Bahauddin Zakaryia Express (25-Up) will leave Karachi City at 6:30pm to reach Multan at 1:05pm the next day; Bahauddin Zakaryia Express (26-Dn) will leave Multan at 7pm to reach Karachi City at 1:10pm the next day.
Shalimar Express (27-Up) will leave Karachi Cantt at 8:30am to reach Lahore at 4:35am the next day; Shalimar Express (28-Dn) will leave Lahore at 6am to reach Karachi Cantt at 2:30am the next day.Shah Rukn-i-Alam Express (29-Up) will leave Karachi Cantt at 6:45am to reach Multan at 12:10am the next day; Shah Rukn-i-Alam Express (30-Dn) will leave Multan at 8am to reach Karachi Cantt at 1:45am the next day. Farid Express (37-Up) will leave Karachi City at 7:45pm to reach Lahore at 11:15pm the next day; Farid Express (38-Dn) will leave Lahore at 9am to reach Karachi City at 12:10am the next day.Jaffar Express (39-Up) will leave Quetta at 2pm to reach Rawalpindi at 6:10pm the next day; Jaffar Express (40-Dn) will leave Rawalpindi at 6am to reach Quetta at 9:45am the next day.
Karakoram Express (41-Up) will leave Karachi Cantt at 4pm to reach Lahore at 11:25am the next day; Karakoram Express (42-Dn) will leave Lahore at 4pm to reach Karachi Cantt at 11am the next day.
Pakistan Express (45-Up) will leave Karachi Cantt at 2:30pm to reach Rawalpindi at 4:20pm the next day; Pakistan Express (46-Dn) will leave Rawalpindi at 8am to reach Karachi Cantt at 9:25am the next day.
The route of Qalander Express (165-Up/166-Dn) has been extended between Larkana and Karachi through Kotri instead of Larkana and Kotri. The operation of 35-Up/36-Dn and 47-Up/48-Dn was suspended a long ago, and now their names have also been excluded from the timetable.
