HYDERABAD, June 29: The provincial population welfare section of the All Pakistan Clerks Association has criticised the political interference of feudal lords of the ruling parties in different government organisations.

Addressing a news conference at the press club here on Sunday, the provincial president of the association, Piral Dayo, called upon the government to stop political interference in government departments and organisations to ensure a sense of security among employees.

He said that the interference had given rise to corruption, mismanagement, nepotism, and injustices as a result of which the government organisations were being rendered weak and the people were losing confidence in the government institutions.

He said the policy of the Arbab government to recruit their blue-eyed boys in the government departments was still continuing and the rights of employees in respect of their children’s appointments were being violated.

He demanded that preference should be given in employment to the children of those employees who had died during the performance of their duties and 50 per cent quota for employment should be fixed for the children of retired senior government employees.

He further demanded that all those employees whose services were hired on contract basis, between 1998 and 2005, should be regularised and all the officers who were working on deputation in different departments should be repatriated to their parent departments.

He demanded that promotions should be given in accordance with seniority and not with educational qualification and all the sacked government employees should be restored.

He said civil servants should also be allowed to take part in the general elections.

Mohammad Luqman Bughio, Dost Ali Shaikh, Imam Ali Bugti and others were also present on the occasion. cheque: The provincial secretary for women development Gul Mohammad Umrani has said that the government will absorb the graduates of the Institute of Women Development Studies of the University of Sindh in the department of women development.

Mr Umrani said after presenting a cheque for Rs500,000 to the university’s pro vice-chancellor Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh on Saturday that only a handful of women were working in the department and they were planning to recruit more graduates.

He said that the department had released the amount to help the institute purchase books and other necessary items for students.
