HYDERABAD, June 27: Activists of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and Muslim Students Federation (MSF) observed ‘black day’ by taking out rallies on Friday in protest against disqualification of Nawaz Sharif.

PML-N activists led by Khalid Aziz Arain, Asifa Riaz, Akram Haq and others, took out a rally from the District Council which culminated at the local press club.

The MSF activists staged a rally outside the press club and burnt effigy of President Pervez Musharraf. They criticised the Lahore High Court’s decision by disqualifying their leader. The MSF leaders said people wanted restoration of deposed judges and implementation of the Charter of Democracy.

They said after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, the PML-N chief was the only leader to lead people and asked Musharraf to quit.

A PML-N activist, comrade Qadir Bux Lakho, put himself in chains and kept raising slogans “go Musharraf go” and “reinstate deposed judges.”

Meanwhile, in a joint statement, the Sindh People’s Youth Organisation Hyderabad Division President Ahsan Ali Abro and other leaders Akram Shah, Javed Khanzada and Mama Rind criticised President Musharraf in the backdrop of disqualification of Nawaz Sharif.

Our Mirpurkhas correspondent adds: District Coordinator PML-N Mirpurkhas, comrade Abdul Majeed Rajput said that senior leaders and workers of PML-N district Mirpurkhas boycotted the black day as party’s leadership did not take notice of his repeated complaints against the behaviour of Sindh chapter leaders.

He told reporters at the press club that the PML-N Sindh office-bearers hatched a conspiracy against senior leaders and workers.

He regretted that though they had, on numerous occasions, informed the central leadership but in vain.

He said about 150 office-bearers of Mirpurkhas district had decided to boycott all party programmes, including black day in protest.
