QUETTA, June 15: The Balochistan government has decided to retain Mr Saud Gohar as Provincial Police Officer refusing to accept new IGP Syed Irshad Hussain appointed by the interior ministry.

According to sources, Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani expressed dismay over the appointment of new PPO by the federal government without consulting the provincial government.

The sources said that the provincial authorities had asked IGP Saud Gohar not to hand over the charge to Syed Irshad Hussain.

“The newly-appointed IGP left for Islamabad without taking charge of his new assignment,” said the sources.
