MANSHERA, June 8: Members of Kurrum Peace Jirga during a meeting here on Sunday vowed to work for peace initially in the region and then work out modalities to solve old disputes.

Mr Khan said that the jirga would be continued on Monday to find out modalities for the lasting and maintainable peace in the region. “The dispute is not so sample as some people consider it. It is very complicated matter which will take some time to be resolved,” he added. To a query, he said that political agent was due in the jirga on Monday and both the tribes would inform him about their decision and point of view and then the final announcement would be made. He said that decision would be also made about resettlement of displaced people of the region in their respective areas.

A jirga member Malik Mohammad Ibrar told this correspondent that because of the bloody clashes in the region and blockade of Parachanar-Kohat road the shortage of the food items and medicines was worsening with each passing day. “Because of the shortage of medicines in Parachinar and blockade of the road about one hundred children had been died in the restive area,” he added.
