QUETTA, June 6: The Balochistan cabinet will finalise the Public Sector Development Programme for 2008-09 on June 9.

This was decided by the cabinet at a meeting held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani.

The cabinet asked members of the provincial assembly to submit their suggestions on the PSDP in four days.

The meeting was informed that about 870 development schemes would be included in the programme, 226 of which would be completed in the current financial year.

The chief minister said that new development schemes would be included in the next budget in view of the financial position of the province.

Chief Secretary Nasir Mehmood Khosa and other officials briefed the cabinet on the revised PSDP for 2007-08, its size and priorities for the next year.

The cabinet was informed that the federal government had agreed in principle to unload a ship carrying half a million tons of imported wheat at the Gwadar port to make the port operational.

The meeting was informed that the State Bank governor would visit Quetta in two weeks and the issues of overdraft and financial problems of the province would be discussed with her.

The cabinet was also informed about steps taken by the government to improve the law and order situation and progress in tracing the missing people.
