NAWABSHAH, June 1: Villagers caught two robbers when they were escaping with a snatched vehicle and handed them over to police in Gulab Bhangwar village near here on Sunday.

Reports said that three armed bandits signalled one Asif Bhangwar to stop near his village and snatched his motorcycle. When the bandits were trying to escape, he cried for help and the villagers came rushing to his rescue. They cordoned off the area and caught two of the robbers identified as Sabir and Ali Gul Siyal while the third made good his escape. The villagers severely tortured them and later handed them over to A-Section police.

Later, police recovered two more motorcycles in their possession.

LOADSHEDDING: Business activities came to a standstill and life appeared to have suffered a paralysis in the city due to unannounced hours-long power load-shedding on Sunday.

People usually suffer almost 8 to 10 hours power outage for last couple of weeks but it touched a new peak on Sunday when power supply was closed for hours.

Business centres in and around Mohni Baazar, Market road, Chakra Baazar, Liaquat market and Cloth Market remained without electricity for hours.

Consumers complained that low voltage and fluctuation damaged their electrical appliances including refrigerators, air conditioners and computers.

An official at a grid station said on condition of anonymity that the power supply had been affected due to damages to electricity poles a couple of days ago.

FIRs: Nawabshah police booked 16 people on charges kidnapping two girls under two separate FIRs here on Sunday.

Ali Asghar Mallah lodged an FIR at Daur police station, stating that one Khadim Hussain wanted to marry his daughter, Ms Ayesha Naz, 17, but when he refused his proposal, he along with his friends kidnapped his daughter at gunpoint on May 20.

Police registered a case against Khadim Hussain and seven others on the directives of district and sessions judge Nawabshah.

Abdul Razzaq lodged another FIR at Daur police station, stating that some armed people barged into his house on Saturday and kidnapped his daughter Ms Tehmila at gunpoint.
