HYDERABAD, May 31: The Sindh Qaumi Sath has welcomed the appointment of Dr Fehmida Hussain as chairperson of the Sindhi Language Authority and appealed to the Sindh education minister to appointment an eminent scholar as chairman of the Sindhi Adabi Board.

In a statement, Fehmida Qureshi and other officials of the social welfare organisation said that with the appointment of Dr Hussain, Sindhi culture would receive boost as promotion of a culture depended on development and promotion of a language. They said that one could expect that Dr Hussain would take concrete steps for development and promotion of Sindhi language.

They appealed to the minister to appoint a reputed scholar as Sindhi Adabi Board chairman and 13 eminent scholars as members of its board of governors.

They said that an accounts clerk, who was holding the charge of secretary of the board, should be replaced by any well-known writer to end unrest among literary circles of the province.
