KARACHI, May 30: The Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) and the Karachi Press Club (KPC) have condemned the illegal detention and harassment of journalist Hafiz Tariq Mahmood by Karachi police.

In their statements issued here on Friday, they noted that Mr Mahmood was kept in detention for five hours and the police did not even let him make a call to his family or counsel.

A meeting has been convened at the KPC on Saturday to condemn police high-handedness.
