Robbers on rampage in city

RAWALPINDI, May 5: Robbers and thieves struck at eight different places in the city and escaped with cash, gold ornaments and four vehicles in the last 24 hours, police said.

Muhammad Zamir, one of the robbery victims, told the Chontra police that he was on way to Kalar Syedan to deliver some goods loaded on his pickup when he found the road blocked. He said as he stopped his vehicle, he found three persons carrying guns around his vehicle. The gunmen snatched Rs5,000, two cell phones and also took away the van.

Adil Saeed complained to the Westridge police that his pickup was snatched by four gunmen from driver, Muhammad Jahangeer.

Akhtar Ali told the New Town police that he came to Commercial Market along with his wife when a person came close to his wife and snatched her purse containing Rs12,000. Muhammad Ashraf’s car was stolen from outside his house in the New Town police area.

Jamil Abbasi lodged a complaint with the Murree police that his car was stolen from outside his house, while Farhanullah’s car was taken away from Westridge.

Ghulam Abbas’s motorcycle was stolen from outside his house in the RA Bazaar, while Noor-ul-Ain’s motorcycle was taken away by thieves from Tench Bhatta.—Staff Reporter
