KUWAIT CITY, May 4: Six Pakistani children, including a six-month-old baby boy, died of suffocation when a fire broke out in their apartment.

According to sources in the fire department, the fire broke out at 11:45am on the second floor of a three-storey building, where Mohammad Shabbir from Lahore was living with his wife and the six children. Mohammad Shabbir is running a garage here.

According to eyewitnesses, the mother rushed out of the house screaming for help but slammed the front door shut in panic with the keys inside. Neighbours had to break open the door but it was too late to save the children as the apartment was filled with thick smoke.

Three of the children were rushed to hospital but they did not survive.
