NAWABSHAH, May 2: The Nawabshah Taluka Municipal Administration has urged the district administration to form a committee of civil engineers to inspect the dilapidated building of a shopping centre which may collapse anytime.
Taluka Nazim Abdul Rauf Khan in a letter addressed to the DCO said the Tayyaba Shopping Centre was constructed on Katchehry Road by a builder in 1994 on the basis of BOT, while testing and supervision of construction was carried out by the defunct municipal authorities.
He further stated the huge double-storey building was raised on weak foundation and with sub-standard material. The Nazim said the building was in dilapidated condition and may collapse anytime causing loss to human life and material.
Pointing out the negligence of contractor, the Nazim said no outlet of water was made on roof or floors and material used for plaster was so inferior that nail cannot be fixed. The iron was also not used according to specifications.
The Nazim urged the DCO to constitute a committee of civil engineers to inspect the site minutely and suggest demolishing and reconstruction of the building.
GROWERS DAY: Fauji Fertilizer Company Nawabshah Region organised Growers Day at different places in the district on Friday.
Mohammad Khoso Regional manager FFC while speaking at a gathering said the FFC was the only institution producing the maximum quantity of fertilizers in the country. He said agricultural experts also provide free services to growers’ water testing labs.
Ateequr Rehman, Technical Executive FFC said the growers could increase per acre yield by balanced and timely use of latest recommended quality of wheat.
Demo: The sacked lower grade employees of Education Department staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Friday, demanding reinstatement.
Protesters Imtiaz Hussain Rind, Liaquat Ali, Abdul Latif Zardari and others told reporters the former government had sacked some 54 employees including teachers, watchmen and peons. They further said all teachers of 1998 were reinstated but they were being discriminated against.
Protesters appreciated the announcement of Sindh Education Minister regarding reinstatement of lower staff sacked in 1996-98 and demanded of the PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to reinstate the lower staff and save them from financial crisis.
LOADSHEDDING: Activists of Sindh United party observed token hunger strike opposite local press club here on Friday to protest against Hesco for issuing inflated bills and continued load-shedding.
Protesters carrying placards were chanting slogans against Hesco.
Mansoor Keerio, President, SUP, Nawabshah district and others told journalists the routine life was adversely affected due to unannounced load-shedding. They said the Hesco officials issue inflated bills to consumers to cover their negligence.
They said the economic conditions in the country were very bad and price hike had pushed the people to grave. They said the issuance of inflated utility bill was injustice and demanded of the higher authorities to take notice and direct Hesco to issue correct bills.
