HYDERABAD, April 9: The district government would celebrate an evening with special people in the last week of this month and use the occasion to introduce them to civil society, NGOs and public and private organisations working for their welfare, said District Naib Nazim Zafar Rajput on Wednesday.

Mt Rajput said in a meeting with a four-member delegation of the Special People Foundation, who called on him at his office, that the parents of many disabled persons could not get their children rehabilitated due to lack of information about government organisations, NGOs and philanthropists working for the rehabilitation of the physically disabled persons.

Similarly, many disabled people possessed different skills but they could not make themselves useful due to lack of information and proper coordination between different organisations, he said.

He said that the purpose of an evening with special people was to create a bridge between the disabled and the organisations working for their welfare.

Mr Rajput said that the Community Development Department was running a separate wing for the rehabilitation of the physically handicapped people. He directed the officials concerned to equip the special people with imparted market-oriented education and training and help them get absorbed in different organisations so that they could earn their livelihood in a respectable manner.
