KARACHI, March 17: Without even waiting for the issuance of any government notification, operators of buses, mini-buses and coaches in the city have unilaterally increased their fares.

This action has been taken after the recent hike in the prices of petrol and diesel. The recent hike in the POL prices has been widely criticised as it would ultimately lead to an increase in the prices of almost each and every commodity.

The transporters operating on different routes of the city have fixed the minimum and the maximum fares on their own, due to which a number of scuffles between the passengers and conductors of these vehicles have been reported from across the city.

A number of coach operators have enhanced the fare to Rs15, which earlier was Rs12.—APP
