HYDERABAD, March 6: Eighteen dog bite cases were reported at the Civil Hospital here on Wednesday.

All victims were the residents of Hirabad and Kali Mori areas and had fallen prey to a stray dog.

They were given the anti-rabies vaccine that requires a 14-day course for the victim.

A huge rush of people was witnessed at the hospital as victims were arriving one after another.

The MS of the Civil Hospital confirmed that 18 cases of dog bite were brought to the hospital.

In a dog bite case a victim is not admitted to a hospital but only given ARV shot and then asked to complete the remaining 14-day course of the injection on daily basis.

After the attacks the people of the area along with the police searched the dog and killed him by feeding it some poisonous substance.

District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil and Taluka City Nazim Javed Jabbar also visited the hospital.

The taluka nazim told Dawn that their ongoing campaign against stray dogs was stopped during the elections.
