LAKKI MARWAT, March 5: The police here on Wednesday arrested six militants with the help of local people after exchange of fire in Baistkhel area.

“One of the arrested militants identified as Shah Khan is an Afghan national while the remaining three, Shah Pur, Ghafoor and Janat Rehman belong to Borakhel Wazir of Miramshah,” police officials told Dawn.

They claimed that militants had come to carry out terrorist activities in the area a day after as many militants had been killed in a fierce fighting with the law enforcement agencies near Khankhel.

“After arresting four militants the police launched a hunt for their other accomplices. As a result two more suspects having links with the militants were arrested.

Their names could not be ascertained so far,” Tajori SHO Sadullah Khan said. The kidnapping of Bakhmal Ahmadzai union council nazim Malik Muhammad Idrees Khan and his two friends led to Tuesday shoot-out, in which two Uzbeks and two Wazirs were killed.
