LARKANA, March 5: Labourers of rice mills took out a procession in Shahdadkot on Tuesday to protest the arrest of their two leaders. They also staged a sit-in outside the Shahdadkot police station.

The procession, led by labour leaders Aziz Abbasi and Manthar Magsi, forced police to release labour leaders on fear of escalation of protest.

The two labour leaders Khamiso Magsi and Mir Hassan Lashari had demanded the miller, Qamaruddain Shaikh a raise in salaries as per the commitment.

However, he refused and asked police to arrest them. According to sources, the labourers had demanded raise of Rs700 which the miller had agreed to but backed out from his commitment.

This triggered a protest resulting into the release of the two arrested workers as they were detained illegally, said the sources.
