MINGORA, March 1: Funeral prayers for the victims of Friday’s suicide attack were offered here in different localities of Swat as the death toll rose to 46 on Saturday.

Police said the heads of two unidentified persons had been found from the site of the blast.

The funeral prayers were offered in Janazo Masjid, Udigram, Malukabad, Shahdara and Makan Bagh. At least 23 victims were buried at the Afsarabad graveyard. A large number of people attended the funeral prayers. SHO Abid Zaman was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Dargai.There was a complete shutdown in Mingora bazaar as all business centres, markets, restaurants and even bakeries remained closed on Saturday.

Police and hospital administration issued a list of 46 dead persons.

However, there were around four unidentified mutilated bodies at the Saidu Hospital morgue, police said, adding that the death toll might further increase to 50.

Police said that 85 people had been injured in the suicide attack on Friday. Eighteen were taken to Peshawar in critical condition.

Two victims, Fiaz and Arshad, succumbed to injuries on Saturday at the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, sources said, adding that 16 others were under treatment.
