ISLAMABAD, Feb 29: The Senate of Philippines has honoured the achievements of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and condemned her assassination.

Her Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) announced here that a resolution adopted by the Senate of Philippines on January 30 acknowledged Ms Bhutto as an advocate of the causes of women, children and minorities.

It also recalled that though she was twice dismissed on corruption charges, she was never found guilty in a court of law.

The resolution said that in her death, the world lost a great leader and a champion of the poor.
