KARACHI, Feb 28: The Site Town Council on Thursday severely condemned the reprinting of blasphemous sketches in Danish newspapers.

In its meeting, held with Syed Badshah Khan in the chair, the council approved the revision of the ongoing development works in various union councils of the town.

The meeting also praised government efforts for holding general elections in a peaceful manner.

The council through a unanimous resolution decided to set up a committee to initiate action for the elimination of narcotic traffickers in the town’s jurisdiction.

The meeting also approved the payment of two per cent consultancy charges.

Road project

The nazim of Lyari Town, Malik Mohammad Fayyaz, inaugurated the newly-constructed Fakir Mohammad Dara Khan Road in Union Council 10.

The project costing Rs30 million will facilitate many localities of Lyari Town.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Naib Nazim Abdullah Rahim Baloch, UC-10 Nazim Abdur Rauf Baloch, TMO Syed Jamaluddin, DO Works Maqsood Ahmed Sheikh, ADOs Tariq Ahmed Baloch, Umer Abbasi, TO Infrastructure Maqasood Ahmed and others.

Model park

The nazim of Korangi Town, Mohammad Arif Khan, inaugurated a model park in Hasrat Mohani Colony, Korangi, UC-9.

Spread over 62,500 square feet, the park has a jogging track, swings and beautiful fountains.

The town nazim said that the basic civic amenities of life would be provided to the citizens without any discrimination. He said that the town administration would also start a tree plantation campaign in order to decrease pollution in the city.

He was accompanied by Town Naib Nazim Mohammad Asghar Qureshi, Town Municipal Officer Dr Mukhtar A. Palejo, Town Officer (Infrastructure) Mohammad Sami Khan, UC Nazim Syed Arshad Ali and Naib Nazim Talaat Sultana.—APP/PPI
