TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 23: Police on Saturday caught a nine-year-old student who fled his madressah 24 days ago, from Rajana bus stand.

A patrol police official said Murtaza of Jhang’s Battianwala village was studying Holy Quran in a madressah in Shorkot Cantonment that he fled on Jan 31. His father informed police about his disappearance.

The boy told police that he fled his madressah because he was afraid of his teachers who used to beat him frequently. He said he spent 24 days at bus stands in various towns. He was handed to his parents.

Cases have been registered against Allama Bashir Hussain Abidi of Athwal Imam Bargah, Lal Masjid (Bakhshi Park) prayer leader Maulana Abdul Razzaq, Maulana Muhammad Azam, ‘khateeb’ of Jamia Masjid of Chak 327-JB (Bhalair), and Maulana Abdul Hameed, prayer leader at Jamia Masjid of Chak 330-JB (Seowal). No one had been arrested till Saturday evening.
