KARACHI, Feb 10: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) defeated Ziauddin University 15-6, 15-5 in the quarter-final of the fourth AKU Inter-university girls’ throwball tournament at the AKU Gymnasium on Saturday.

In other quarter-finals, Institute of Business Administration (IBA) ‘B’ beat Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine 16-14, 15-9.

L’ecole For Advanced Studies overcame Fast National University 15-11, 17-15.

Institute of Business Management won 15-12, 11-15, 16-14 against Aga Khan University (AKU).

IBA ‘B’ face L’ecole while DUHS lock horns with Institute of Business Management in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, in the sixth AKU Inter School/Collegiate boys’ basketball tournament, The City School Gulshan A-levels defeated Meritorious Science College 75-23.

Ahsan Jawad scored 30 points for the winners.

Asad Saleem with 14 points tried to rescue Meritorious but in vain.

In other matches, Bilal Jahangir and Zohair Mazhar with 18 and 13 points respectively steered St Patrick’s High School against The Lyceum School to victory.

The scores were 64-42.

Bayview High School defeated DA Public School 47-39 courtesy of superb performance by Zain Tariq (23 points).

Qasim Mehdi supported Zain with 16 points.

Aman Hussain (20 points) showed brilliant skills to help Southshore School snatch 77-35 victory against Shah Wilayat Public School.

Quarter-finals will be played on Monday at 2:30pm onwards.
